The C-HAWQ Initiative aims to improve the natural beauty and water quality of Marco Island and its 100 miles of inland canals through an innovative restoration project.
Marco Island has grappled with water quality issues within its inland canals for years. The C-HAWQ Initiative proposes an unsolicited public-private partnership with the City of Marco Island to fund, design, and build island habitats using the dredged canal material. The public-private partnership is an important relationship between the City and the selected general contractor, Earthwerks Land Improvement & Development Corp of Lisle, Illinois, to execute the project fully. The project timeline should take approximately 2 years to complete after permitting with 3 additional years of monitoring and maintenance of the islands.
At the request of the City we will no longer be attending the Marco Island Farmer's Market on April 9th

The Garden was founded in 1993 by a visionary group of local plant enthusiasts. The organization incorporated with the IRS with 501 C (3) status in 1994.
